Building futures together

Last Wednesday was one of those days that leaves you feeling genuinely energised about the work that Uniting Uniforms are doing and the direction things are heading.

I had the pleasure of attending the Building Futures Together event at Oasis Southbank Secondary School, and the atmosphere from the moment I arrived was incredibly uplifting. There’s something special about being in a school environment where ambition, community and purpose are so clearly woven into everything. With pupils, educators and corporate partners all coming together, it felt like a real reflection of what “brighter futures” actually looks like in practice. I also had the pleasure of meeting the CEO of Oasis, Steve Chalke, and I was able to share with him the great work we are doing in supplying uniforms to vulnerable children at Oasis schools.

The highlight for me was sitting on the panel discussing how collaborative partnerships with Oasis can maximise impact and increase social outcomes, while ensuring sustainability. It was such a thoughtful and forward-looking conversation. What stood out most was the shared commitment in the room, not just to doing good, but to doing it in a way that lasts. We talked a lot about how corporate partnerships can grow, adapt, and continue to deliver value over time, as well as opening the doors of business to pupils and partnering with corporations to really supercharge the support we’re giving to schools. We are stronger in numbers! I found it particularly encouraging how open and constructive the dialogue was. There was a genuine willingness to challenge ideas, build on each other’s perspectives, and focus on practical ways to deepen collaboration. It didn’t feel like a theoretical discussion; it felt grounded, honest and action-orientated.

There was also something really powerful about hearing directly from Oasis pupils about the realities on the ground. It reinforced how important it is that partnerships are built with, not just for, the communities they’re designed to support. That sense of alignment and mutual respect is clearly what makes these collaborations effective.

I left feeling optimistic and motivated. Days like this are a reminder that when the right people come together with a shared purpose, meaningful change and greater social impact are within reach. Uniting Uniforms is determined to play its part.
